All elections in Grennia are mandatory to vote for citizens and permanent
residents and are held with ranked-choice voting. Candidates are
ranked by number, 1 being the voter's favourite.
There
are 7 parties currently in Grennian politics, these include:
-Social
Labour Party (centre-left) -United Conservatives (centre-right) -Green
Party (centre-left) -Private Health Party (single issue, but
otherwise generally right-wing) -God's Faithful Party (religious
right-wing) -Queer Advancement Party (generally left-wing)
There
are also independent canditates who are not affiliated with any party.
In
the Satogeko City Special Autonomous Region, the sole party running is the
Communist Party. However, outside of Satogeko City they are ineligible for
running in elections. Despite this, they are allowed to send 20
representatives and one Senator into federal Parliament to speak on behalf
of Satogeko City.
Though Grennia operates officially in a
bicameral system, in practice the small size of the Senate limits it to
being not much more than a rubber stamp for the House of
Representatives.
